The new year didn’t arrive quietly. It came in with movement, change, and more to manage than I expected, including buying a new house, which still feels a little unreal.

Somewhere along the way, the stress started to build. Not all at once, but enough to notice. And when that happens, I tend to do what I’ve always done. I pull back a bit.

Not from everything. Just mentally.

I return to the worlds I’ve created.

There’s something grounding about slipping back into stories that feel familiar. The characters are consistent in a way real life rarely is. I understand them. I know their motivations, their flaws, their strengths. Even when they surprise me, they still make sense.

And lately, I’ve been spending more time there.

Not in a dramatic way. Just quietly, in the background. Writing when I can. Letting scenes unfold at their own pace. Building stories piece by piece, even on the days when everything else feels a little too loud.

Because while I don’t always feel like the people on I-4 are for real (and if you’ve driven it, you get it), I know the people in my stories are.

They’ve been keeping me company through all of this change.

There are a few projects taking shape right now, and my goal is to have them ready before the end of summer. No pressure, just progress. Just showing up and doing the work.

And for those who’ve been asking… there may be more on the horizon connected to Hotel South Beach. After returning to the hospitality industry after the pandemic, I’ve seen and experienced so much more. The kind of moments, conversations, and behind-the-scenes chaos that refuse to stay quiet and practically beg to be written down.

They turn into stories. So yes, there may be a Hotel South Beach 2. I’ve got a lot more to say.

For now, I’m writing, rebuilding, and finding my rhythm again.

More soon.
